Maxim 2.0: the brain is rented, the body is owned

Maxim 1.0 died on the compute wall at 240M parameters, the Compute just wasn't enough. The 2026 revival borrows the brain through OpenRouter — currently Kimi K3 — while accounts, history, and serving stay on our own rack. This is what "borrowed power vs. owned power" looks like in production.

About the research.

Alflora Research is the lab arm of Alflora — a self-hosted platform run from a big bedroom rack, not a cloud region. A team of one operator, two servers, and a small electricity bill. Every note on this site was written on the machines it describes, after they broke and got fixed by the same pairs of hands.
